while i cant fully blame swanson center for being way too booked (there's a lack of supply for mental health/therapy in NWI and not a lot of options) i found it kind of ridiculous to wait a full month to 'see if i qualify' which had to be an appointment prior to therapy. after finding out im broke (not sure why we needed to schedule a month long awaited appointment for this), it was over a month wait to see a therapist. all in all it was about 3 months, start to finish. that kind of wait time for someone who is suffering with anxiety/depression/other issues in my opinion is not sufficient.
I went to the Swanson Center for help with coping skills. I met with one very friendly lady to go over pay information and set an appointment for the next day after filling out a six page quiestionnaire (front and back) of all of my history. When I come to the appointment, which was at 8am, the doors are locked and the office managers are not there. I wait until 8:08 when they arrive and pay for an hour and a half (supposed to be 8-9:30) and see my therapist promptly at 8:12. When i get into the office, she starts going over my questionnaire for ten minutes which has now wasted over 22 minutes of time that I have paid for. We go over the typical questions and answers and say yes I am sad and no I dont have any thoughts of harming myself or others and my therapist (Rosette De-Luth...MSW) states that she will be bcak as she is going to get a form for me to fill out. She is gone FIFTEEN minutes and now I am angry. I explain to her that we have wasted nearly 40% of my time with things that should have done long before my appointment and she asks her supervisor to come in and try to smooth things over. Jessica which is the Director states that yes we should be here on time and yes we should have the forms ready and walks out as if she has done her job. My therapist asks if I want to continue the meeting and I said no and she replied that she didnt think so and showed me to the door. I left not expressing a refund or further appointment. I go to work out and come home to get ready for work and my brother calls, Jessica had called him to try and get him to admit me beacuse I was angry and they thought I might hurt someone. This place is very bureacratic and unprofessional. I highly do not recommend as you get what you pay for. P.S. I called Jessica back and still have no response...
I went to the swanson center afraid I was going to get a doctor who wasn't going to listen to me, just prescribe pills, and send me on my way. BUT no, that is not what I got. I got a nice lady named Gloria, who , like me, is a dog lover and encouraged me to bring my dog in next appointment. I am excited to go back with my dog, not only because I can bring my dog with me, but because I liked her energy and responsive care to my woes and sorrows. Made me feel comfortable and at ease.
If you have Kelly Clark as your Dr you should read about the pills he gives you because he could kill you on the meds like latuda I have family with diabetes and before he puts any one on latuda you need a blood test done first but he don't care
