It looked like an interesting place. We were there for a talk and didn't get a look at the exhibits. Parking lot was dark, though.
It also has a massive, well-maintained archive that is invaluable to research.
They have an amazing collection, including one of the best and largest collections of antique firearms I have ever seen. I really enjoyed the automobile collection too.
The museum itself is huge and has a professional feeling that most county museums fail to emulate. Despite the floor space, the museum is crammed full of stuff.
Definitely a heck of a museum. I had the chance to volunteer here and I must say, this is a pretty great collection.
It doesn't look like much from the outside but it's loaded. Three floors old cars, police uniforms weapons quilts knick nacks. Something for everyone.
There is a vintage car collection owned by Dr. Kesling, a very large antique gun collection with some really unique and bizarre weapons, a group of period rooms demonstrating common life throughout the years, and a whole load of events that keep you coming back.
Don't be fooled. It may be a county museum, but it is far larger than any county museum ( and even some official museums) I've ever seen.
Me being young i loved this place it really shows u the history of La Porte
Maybe I'm biased due to my work there, but it is still a seriously impressive museum and well worth the look for locals and travellers alike. It really brings home the past.
